Una de las preguntas más frecuentes para un editor de libros, aparte de la no menos habitual "¿En qué consiste el trabajo de un editor?", que en versión más descarnada sería algo así como "¿Para qué sirve un editor?", suele ser "¿Y qué estudiaste para ser editor?". La respuesta, si es que la hay, a esta pregunta nos la ofrece Andrew T. Le Peau, editor de InterVarsity Press, que cita los "consejos" de su antecesor, James W. Sire. Se puede leer aquí (en inglés).

A step forward

So it finally looks like some Spanish publishing companies are going to digitalize their catalogue, but is it enough? Yes, I admit, it is a step forward, and you have to start somewhere, but... Why "just" digitalize? Experience is a very valuable tool, but perhaps we should also change the way we work, the way we visualize our ideas, our future projects, in a word, the way we think. Will we be capable of that? Are we the right people to carry out this task or are we going to be left out?

Un paso adelante
Parece que algunas editoriales españolas van a digitalizar su catálogo. ¿Es suficiente? Sí, de acuerdo, es un paso adelante, por algún sitio hay que empezar, pero... ¿Por qué "solo" digitalizar? La experiencia es una herramienta excelente, pero tal vez deberíamos empezar a plantearnos cambios más profundos en nuestra forma de trabajar, de visualizar ideas o futuros proyectos, en una palabra, nuestra manera de pensar. ¿Seremos capaces de asumir el cambio? ¿Somos las personas adecuadas para llevarlo a cabo o nos quedaremos fuera de juego?
